I know there were a couple threads about this back when it happened, but I could not find them. Story in a nutshell: Texas constable was arrested in Colorado for attempted child sexual assault.

CAÑON CITY, Colo. - Former Denton County constable Larry Dale Floyd was working undercover when he was arrested in connection with an attempted child sexual assault case, his attorney said Wednesday.

Cañon City Police say he attempted to arrange to have sex with an 8-year-old girl by soliciting her mother via the Internet and phone conversations last summer. There was no child, and the mother was actually a Cañon City police officer working undercover for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Only trouble is, the DA of the county where he worked doesn't know anything about the undercover investigation.

When contacted on Wednesday, Lee Ann Breading, first assistant district attorney in Denton County, said local constables have no jurisdiction in other states. They also typically focus on serving civil papers, not Internet sting operations, she said. Based on the evidence she's seen, Ms. Breading said, it's highly unlikely that Mr. Floyd was working in any undercover capacity. His wife told her office that Mr. Floyd said he was going on a personal vacation before he left for Colorado. "I don't think anybody but him believes that defense," Ms. Breading said.

Mr. Floyd also faces three separate charges in Texas for possession of child pornography after more than 60 pieces of child pornography were found at his home in The Colony.

Thank goodness there wasn't really an 8 year old victim. He'd probably say it was all her fault.
