Floridians: Is Jeb as bad a governor as his brother is as a "president"?
In other words, does he live up (or down) to the Bush name?

I've been curious about this lately.

He's Not As Stupid... He Covers Much Better!
I have heard rumors that he has a "little honey" but I've never researched it much. He does have family problems and as far as I know his wife still doesn't live in the Governor's Mansion.

It's been speculated (no data) that IF he were to make a run for the WH that he will HAVE to divorce his wife first. She doesn't seem very comfortable with politics and come to think of it, I rarely hear much about her.

Of the two, Jeb seems mored educated... therefore there's probably much more WE don't EVEN know!

He IS his brother's keeper though and during the "bad" hurricane season before this last one, he seemed much more in control and out front than The Idiot!! That, plus he had those oh so close ties to the WH!

I wouldn't trust him myself, I think he's much MORE conniving than *! Remember Schiavo... he got a burn out of that one, but I can't say I hear much grumbling.

Having said all that, I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask... too much of MY time is taken up with all the scandals going on in the BIG house!

14. IMHO if he divorces his wife OR more likely she dies in an
"accident", he is running for President. The current wife IMHO has to go for him to run.

Stupid! He IS SNEAKY and that's why you don't hear all that much!

I was pretty upset about the "gun" thing! Like the shot to kill if someone comes into your house. I find this a pretty dangerous law because you NEVER know WHO it might be! But it got passed!

9. Jeb is a lot smarter than his brother, not that that's very hard to do.
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 02:22 PM by QC
The problem, of course, is that Jeb's superior intelligence makes him more devious. And he is totally owned by the development interests here.

But, in all fairness, he is more competent as governor than his brother is as president. That is, however, damning with faint praise.

17. He has allowed ES&S to monopolize the vote counting business,
in FL, which to my mind is pretty shrewd. I think Kathy Dopp and others who have analyzed the results in FL indicate that the suspicious precincts and counties in FL were largely ES&S, while the Diebold counties ended up pretty close to the pre-election polling and projections. ES&S is equally rigging elections, in fact probably more elections than Diebold, but they are much more shrewd about it. They keep a low profile and they offer the optiscans which seemingly can be audited.

Of course, what states REQUIRE audits for ALL ELECTIONS? Mondale, I believe, won the MN senatorial elections in 02. He had a substantial lead in the polls going in and I doubt very seriously that he lost. ES&S at that time had, and probably still has, enough of the vote counting franchise in MN to steal the election and I think they did. If Al Franken decides to run for office in MN, he'd better become conversant with computer technology. Almost certainly that's what will decide the election.

Jeb and ES&S are sympatico. Their criminality, if it exists, is better hidden. As the Baptists say, "A sin well hidden is already half forgiven."

18. He's smarter and sneakier than W
But he's just as extreme. He's more teflon than Reagan. Nothing ever seems to stick, even his refusal to take no for an answer on the Terry Schiavo thing. He keeps trying to get tax money to pay for private schools. His daughter, Nichol, is a repeat drug offender. His wife, Columba, was caught trying to smuggle several thousand dollars worth of clothes into the country without paying taxes. In other words, he is a typical member of the Bush family in that he never accepts responsibility for anything. I am happy he will be term limited out of office this year but we'll probably get another Republican, most likely Charlie Christ.

By the way, I live in Katherine Harris' district, which is one of the reddest areas in Florida. It looks like she is going to lose to Bill Nelson in the Senate race which is good, but Nelson is only slightly to the left of Joltin' Joe Lieberman. Harris' district will most likely go to another Republican, either Vern Buchanan, a local auto dealership owner who has a history of shady business dealings, or a Sarasota attorney, Tramm Hudson, another right wing asshole.

22. Well, Hello There! Welcome To DU!!
I live under Cruella too!! Only a little further south of you! You're ONLY the 2nd person I've seen that's posted from Cruella Country! Have you ever written her? It's a real treat! You get NUTTIN!

And would that local auto dealership be off of Bee Ridge Road where she has her car repaired???

I too am not at all fond of Billy Boy Nelson... we badly need someone to take his place, but I have no idea who!!

Isn't Jan Schneider going to run again?? I actually think she did win over Cruella last time out! There was a vote dump at about 11:00 PM on election night right before they called FL for The Idiot. They HAD to focus on Ohio and votes got dumped very quickly, about 40,000 of them.

Uh, we didn't have paper ballot you know!

24. Condolences
to a fellow dweller of Curella country.

I've never written to her but I have emailed. No response.

Vern Buchanan owns a bunch of auto dealerships, including Sarasota Ford and I'm not sure what else.

Jan Schneider and Christine Whittman (not sure of the last name) and some guy from, I think, Manatee County are running as Democrats. The last I heard, Whittman was ahead of Schneider in fundraising with the guy way behind.

Another Republican in the race is Nancy Dietert. She used to be a Democrat but went over to the dark side years ago. She's more of a moderate Republican which means she's probably got no chance to make it out of the primary.

26. jeb by far,
he also has a mean streak you can see in his eyes. He knows how the system works to his advantage and will do what he has to to get his way. Examples would be the class size amendment (too expensive), and the rail system from tampa to orlando and miami(the citizens don't know what they want, too expensive). Meanwhile we have a 3 billion dollar budget surplus that he wants to use by giving everyone a salestax free week where they can spend up to 5K without taxes. Who do you think that caters too??? He's also a lapdog for scripps corp and has promised we taxpayers will pay the executive salaries for the first 5 or ten years if they ever get the go ahead to build a campus.
