Dubai Port Deal: A Rovian "Long Con" Job?
I'm a "Lost" fan. Two weeks ago, they did a backstory on one of the characters, Sawyer, who is a con artist. In his tale, we learn that the key to the long con is to get the victim to think that the deal, or "con", is his/her own idea.

This port deal smacks of a long con. It's too easy. It doesn't feel right in some way. I feel like we're getting conned in some manner.

4. I Agree With Your Assessment
This could be a way to distance Republicans from Bush's bad poll numbers.

7. Watch the votes of Senators who are not up for re-election and
Congresscritters from "safe" districts, they are the key.

3. I'm all ears...
... tell me what you are thinking because I can't see it. I just see a president acting like he's always acted, and since he almost never gets called on it, why wouldn't he?

6. Maybe it's a plan to drum up votes for those Congressional
Repubs running in 2006. What I mean is, that if the Repubs show strong opposition to Shrub and his veto, perhaps they think this will win them votes???
It's just a thought.

9. So, are you saying this "scandal" is deliberate...
planned in advance by Rove, leaked on purpose, Repub outrage choreographed, with the intention of boosting Repub chances in the fall, despite the consequences to Bush approval numbers?

Or are the Repubs just taking advantage of this situation to their political benefit?

11. If this is to take the stink off 'pubs for '06....
Why did we get reports that the WH was strongarming them regarding NSA investigations saying "If you oppose us you won't get a thing from us.. B*sh won't support your re-election"?

- either he's a liability or he's not -

13. Maybe that didn't work and that's what they told him at the
recent secret meeting. If they said, "look, you are killing us, you either have to give us something to beat you over the head with or we are going to have to think about impeaching you to save ourselves, besides, you know damn well the Democrats will impeach you if we lose control of the House and Senate." What would he do?

The Pubbies who must win in November are trying to put some distance between them and the king. Political game!

just a run-of-the-mill fuck-up. They didn't expect anyone to really object to their shenanigans. We've laid down and taken so much already. They thought we'd just bend over again.

20. When It Gets Overturned, GOP Congress Will Point To Their 'Independence'
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 08:24 PM by loindelrio
from the Man/Monkey administration, thus inoculating themselves from a Democratic attack on Congress role as a 'check and balance' in November.

It became apparent that the standard outlets of the Reich Ministry of Truth were pushing this as a focus of the daily Two Minute Hate last week. I have never known the Ministry to go against the Maximum Leader, unless it was part of a planned strategy.

Look for the Reichpublican Congress take credit for shooting this down.
