Freepers overwhelmimgly oppose Bush on UAE/Dubai Port deal
I wanted to see how the Freepers are reacting (to Bush's announcement that he will veto any legislation that threatens to block the Dubai Port deal) after reading a DU thread by Earth_First...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x483378

...in which he adds, "There must be some awfully confused freepers out there in bizarro-land today."

Pasted below is the first page (50 responses) of a Free Republic thread titled "Bush will veto any bill to stop port deal." I haven't edited or removed anything. These are the opinions of Bush's most loyal base, and they're finally figuring out that Bush truly does not care about them.

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) — President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.

Bush just sounded the death knel for this deal. He can't veto things that happen at the state level.

It was foolish of him to make such a statement. Even if he ultimately wins, which I doubt, he will lose significant political face over this.

But I think we can also now say that they are also differentiated by what foreign interests they wish to sell us out to.

Good! The company that has the contract now is not American either and the company that has won this contract already has multi contracts around the world in port management. And NASA buys its rocket fuel from a French company so what is the big deal. A lot of spineless idiots are raising hell about something that is not a problem.. The problem is the leaking of classified information to the enemy and the idiots in the congress who want to stop the foreign listening program.

At least it is not like WW II and the mafia or the Communist are not in charge of the ports.

11. A new approach to the war on terror?
I loved the part where Rash said that he'd read the Tsun Zsu and it says the way to defeat the terrorists is to make friends with them. Of course, that's completely the opposite of everything they've been telling their base since 9/11. Those dittoheads believe every word Rash has said up to now but I don't see how they can swallow this one.

If we find ourselves agreeing with the majority on Free Republic, we might want to reexamine what it is we're agreeing on, and why.

Free Republic is big on appeals to fear and bigotry. When the posts on DU and Free Republic appear interchangeable, that's something to worry about.

I even wasn't surprised about the hatred towards Islam. What DID surprise me was that these creatures didn't all say what a wonderful idea Bush had. But I noted that they are very passive about the outcome. No calls for emailing reps or anything, just a faint hope that the veto will be overridden.
