How can he possibly escape from this situation without serious damage? I see no exit strategy. No surprise there.

2. Announce that bird flu has arrived on US shores, and fire up...
KBR's detention centers and FEMA's concentration camps. That will get the DP World story off the front page of the New York Times pretty quick. Meanwhile, Bush bin Laden can continue to build for his next Blue state terror attack(s).

Cheers,
Lori Price

3. Maybe he could have Karen Hughes putter around in a johnboat
through the nation's harbors in a red-white-&-blue jumpsuit.

Seriously, it doesn't look very good politically for the jolly rancher. When he got off the airplane and announced he would veto any legislation that attempts to kill the deal, I think a lot of people realize that a dark dark series of evil deals has gone down between Bush operatives and UAE contacts. I have no idea what sort of deals exactly, but the Bush administration is really stinking up the place at this point.

I think those poll numbers -- already kind of pathetic -- are going to slip further.

4. Seriously? He'll cave, just like with Harriet Miers...
He'll still be a good Christian man and his core base will forgive him.

to bring in Alito.

7. False compromise. Frist will be the first out of the gate.
Frist works for the Bush Family, so his words today shouldn't be taken as anything more than a ploy.

12. Put it on the back burner. Big Business wants t his.
Let the corporations that want this trade deal get to work on members of Congress of both parties.

Let the corporate media repeat the talking points ad nauseum about how Dubai is our friend and that people who oppose this deal are racists.

In a few weeks a bipartisan coalition of Congresscritters will show their master they have the courage to do the right thing by ignoring the screaming mob and voting to have this wonderful company with its long track record of safety manage our ports.

They'll pull it off during some big event and no one except a few crazy bloggers will ever even notice--which was the plan to begin with but somehow someone told the people.

Remember Big Business Wants This.

13. Damage? Why is Bush running for some political office?
He will relent and the Republicans who have been bitching about it will then give the impression that they are strong on national security. End of story.

14. The Silverspoon Sociopath and his Criminal Cabal...
will not back down on this. Congress will pass a Bill to cancell it. He will veto it. The Rethugs will appear to be "for America's security". The over ride will fail. Everybody in the RW wins. By the time all of this happens something else will take the front burner and this will be a tiny blip on the radar screen.

17. He* has a perfect escape hatch on this one...
He* says he must listen to the will of the people and will not allow the deal to go through.

This does several things:
1)raises his* profile among the stupid in the population

2)potentially raises his* falling polls

3)gives the appearance of being a leader* that does what is right for the nation.

The spin is already taking place to support these points.

He* just came out and said he* didn't even find out about this deal until after it was done.

"look, I* was caught off guard just like the rest of you!" aka man of the people and he like us...

All of this bullshit he* just spewed came on the heels of rumspuke coming out that he hadn't a clue that any of this was happening until this past weekend. But what is odd, scary and funny about that statement is: rumspuke is supposedly on the panel that approved this deal.

bottom line: either rumspuke is lying, moron* is lying or they are both lying (given the circumstances, that would be impossible, but that has never happened before, right?)

more buffoonery from the assholes* in the whitehouse
