GOP Election funny business starting already? : Please Read
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 07:07 AM by CrackpotAmerica
Hi, everyone,

I'm just popping in here for a moment because I got a strange message from Mehlman's GOP.

They tell me that I "may not be properly registered to vote at this address," and want me to 'fill out a form' and send it directly back to the GOP.

I am certain that they don't know who they are dealing with here. I am FULLY registered to vote. Now I am suspicious that they are going to try to knock me off of the rolls come November to help Mr. Santorum out.

Has anyone else gotten this message?

Also, is there any way that I can call someone to see if this kind of call is legal for the GOP, a non election official organization, to place to people? I would like to nip this in the bud now so that others less informed are not robbed of their vote.

If you have any info that might help, please let me know.

Thx! I miss you guys!!

I uploaded it to my website and you can listen to it here:

1. Yes, call you're local Supervisor of Elections
and if that doesn't help, call your State Office of Elections. Also a call to your local DEM Party Office might be a good idea too.

18. They are slick
This recks of scam.

This is one of the ways they collect absent ballots. They get your current info and then they request a ballot for you. Most of the time they get away with it and the 'voter' never knows what happened.

3. I wonder if this form would switch your registration to Repub?
Sort of like the Slamming that phone companies do to switch your long distance. It would lock you out of the primaries and make is look like there are more R's in the district.

11. I also wanted to add in 2004
remember there was a group going around with some sort of petition and when someone would sign it they changed their party affiliation. Does anybody remember this? I remember it briefly.

Snip: <OLYMPIA, Wash. – Voters would have to prove they are U.S. citizens and reregister to vote under an initiative that supporters said they will file this week.

Conservative think-tank Evergreen Freedom Foundation has formed Grassroots Washington, which is backing the initiative that was expected to be announced Wednesday afternoon.

... The initiative would make all voter registrations inactive until people proved their citizenship and reregistered. Voters who show up at the polls and find they are inactive can vote by provisional ballot until their registration is verified, he said.

17. They sure hate letting people vote
They know they can't win a fair and free election, so they are doing everything they can to prevent one. Traitors.

14. Definitely follow through with authorities
The Republicans know they can't win honestly, so they must cheat and defraud and rig elections to keep their party going. Don't let them get away with it. You could also call your local consumer watch reporter to see if they're interested in doing a story about it.

21. Update:
I spoke with my County DNC Officer this afternoon.. She was very interested in it.

I forwarded the message and this transcript to her and she said she would review it and get back to me:

Here is the transcript:
(Female Voice)

Hello, I’m calling from the Republican National Committee with an important voter registration alert.

Our records indicate you may not be properly registered to vote at this address. It’s critical that you properly register in order for you to exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election for lower taxes and fiscal discipline.

You will be receiving a form in the mail in the next couple of days. Please, take a moment to fill it out and return it so you can be sure your voice is heard on Election Day. Paid for by the Republican National Committee and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

w-w-w, dot, G-O-P, dot-com.

If you are in PA, please report this to your board of elections.

We have to be on point with this from now on!

Thx!
