Russert Shilling for Bush's Port Deal on Imus this AM
Yep - just happened to turn the channel, and there was the rotten little potato, going on and on about how Bush is confident there isn't a security issue. Look - we NEED allies in the Middle East, he sez, and the UAE have really cleaned up their act and worked hard to be good. So if we say no to the port deal, it'll make for bad feelings and that isn't good (what Tim? they'll send terrorists if we don't give them control of our ports??).

And you know Bush, once he makes up his mind and believes something is right, he sticks to his guns, he told Imus.

:puke: :puke: :puke:

1. Charles Manson has cleaned up his act, too...
Hasn't slaughtered anyone since he's been in jail...let's let him out and give him control over the FBI. We need experts who know what it's like to be a vicious killer.

WHAT BULLSHIT! Russert should just shut the f*ck up!!

22. Exactly.............
If someone cleans up their act you can invite them over for dinner. You don't give them keys to your house!

24. As far as we know, Manson never PERSONALLY killed anyone.
I like the metaphor, but the fact is Manson never actually killed anybody with his own hands, if all the books about him are correct.

3. Russert threw in that Democrats ARE WEAK ON TERROR - he stated it as fact.
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 08:29 AM by blm
I wish JUST ONE person would ask Russert or Matthews WHO was the first senator to go after terrorism and track the funding of terrorism and WHEN.

Or why did George Bush refuse to read the Hart-Rudman Report on Global Terror that was given to him on Jan 30, 2001.

4. I had the misfortune of leaving the TV on NBC this morning
He did the same thing on NBC. Katie helped out a bit by mentioning how those opposed to the UAE running the ports might just be painted as racist, Tim agreed.

Tim said that the Dems have learned that they need to be "to the right" of the Republicans on national security.

It was mostly like that.

7. So he's making this rounds, eh?
What a good little fascist. Of course he works for NBC, who's owned by GE, who stands to make tons of $$$ out of the deal.

toss the TV out the window. Failed to mention the diff here is that the UAE owns the friggin company as he said 30% of our ports are controlled by foreign interests.

23. Past time we target Timmy (Bush shill) Russert and attack his bias.
The more pressure the better, especially since Fitzgerald has some awareness that Russert is another one of the go-to guys for the WH.

Too much effort expended on Tweety - he has already marginalized himself. Potato-head (how mature of me) is a much worthier target.

10. We especially need allies in the middle east who aided and abetted
Osama bin Laden. Osama stayed there in UAE while in the hospital before the 9/11 attacks and the majority of 9/11 terrorist flew out of the UAE before the attack. Yeah we need the UAE as an allie about as much as we needed Japan as an allie after they attacked Pearl Harbor.

12. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD...when people say things like "Bush is confident..."
HOW can that STILL carry any weight?

He was confident his educational policy would raise test scores.
He was confident there were WMDs in Iraq.
He was confident enough to say he really wasn't that concerned with OBL.
He was confident Brownie was doing a heckuva job.

And on and on...

14. russert was talking about how everyone wins
dems can be tough on terror
gopers can show they are not always in agreement with pres
pres can show that he is balanced in his war on terror, and supportive of good arabs

Imus then said, so everyone wins, the whole thing makes sense then.

18. Well, they just had Sen. Menendez on and he did a good job.
He pointed out when the British Company was running it, it wasn't a foreign government.

The fact that it is a foreign government is key.

Imus even said Menendez did a good job after he got off the phone. Imus was trying to use Russert's arguments with Menendez. He did a good job countering them.

At least Imus had him on to counter. That's a key point for me - an authoritarian government will be in control of our ports.

26. Thanks For The Info... I Was At C-Span & Turned Channel Just To
catch the end of the discussion! Russert has certainly turned into a COMPLETE Shill and it amazes me how Imus calls on him for so much info!! Especially since Imus states he IS NOT a Bush supporter!

Something really smells... also WAPO and WSJ came out IN FAVOR of this program!

I predicted that this will fly and it will be just another feather in the WH's cap! They will then KNOW that they can DO ANYTHING and not a soul in America will EVER stop them!
