Can you even begin to imagine what the press would have done to Clinton, Bush I, Reagan or Carter if they admitted they didn't know about such a deal.

Because everyone just accepts the fact Bush is both a puppet and an idiot no one, and I mean no one, holds him to even the most minimal standard of performance.
