although I do not believe he didn't know... but I don't understand WHY anyone would WANT people to think he's a clueless moron. Is it the lesser of two evils, rather than being a crook?

2. It wouldn't matter how much time he spent getting briefed. They

will only tell him what they think he needs to know. He is only a figurehead, he doesn't really make the decisions so he doesn't need to know what's going on. That's why he gets to spend his time going on vacation and making trips to BFE all the time. No need for him to stick around Washington with all the boring meetings and all that work. It will all be taken care of for him and they'll tell him what he thinks about it and what to say.
