Well, looks like the freepers are being sold on the port deal
at least some of them. The administration's propaganda is working for them. I still say, follow the money on this deal and see where it leads.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1583553/posts

At the end of the day we're going to find that the opposition to this comes from longshoreman's unions and/or business interests operating behind the scenes.

The noise is being made by politicians in thrall to aforementioned unions/business interests who have contributed heavily to their campaigns, and by showboating politicians who are looking to distance themselves from Bush prepatory to upcoming campaigns.

Together they are capitalizing on post-9/11 paranoia to demagogue the issue and whip up hysteria among the electorate.

That is what Rush said about the Longshoremen. Also I believe that we were too quick to rush to side with the Dems before all the facts were in. The Dems were looking for something to cling to and show the voters that they are just as tough on the WOT than the Republicans and Look we were first on this!

"So the UAE Doesn't Have Any Say in Port Security? What's the Big Deal Then?"

None!

Knee jerk conservatives joining the idiot left, doesn't surprise me at all, it is rather disheartening however.

in the name of their Cult.

18. You must first *have* principles in order to jettison them.
The fact is that they reacted out of racism but are, now, straggling back into the "money trumps all" camp, their natural habitat. Eventually, they'll all come around. Bushistas will twist themselves into pretzels to justify anything, if it's in the name of the almighty dollar.

16. Then who was it trying to tell the "learned" that Bush knew what
he was doing when he brokered the deal to sell off control of the ports?

Wonder how those who claimed that Bush knew what he was doing are going to spin it now that Bush says he had no idea what was going on?

Hannity, Limbaugh and others will be in full battle mode over this, trying to rein the sheep back in. Give it a couple days, and everyone will be back in the flock, baaaaaaaaing in ignorant bliss.

Its not a lie ...

What?! They do it! It works!

You can spell "ulterior" (and use it correctly in a sentence) and you are named after Søren Kierkegaard. You must be a total idjit. :D

27. You found me out.
It would amaze you to know that I really wanted to maximize the effectiveness of this statement by replacing the word 'ulterior' with 'interior' so as to make it more accessible to the unwashed masses, but decided instead to go against my better judgment. In future I will make an effort to be more obscure, use specious arguments, worser grammar(see, I'm already making strides!) and maybe even inject a number of misspelled words for good measure. Honest.

11. Was there ever any doubt?
They can't think for themselves ... they never could. "Uncle Rush" told them it's fine, so once again, they abandon their common sense and ignore their own self-interests. Bush** could nuke their hometown and they wouldn't have a problem with it if Limbaugh said it was a good thing! :eyes:

No, they're HANDLING LOADING, UNLOADING, AND UNPACKING THE F*CKING CONTAINERS! NO RISK THERE, IS THERE???

15. OK, so they finally got their talking points from the mother ship.
And now the total bushbot wingnuts are making the excuses.

For the most part, they are not concerned at all that a company owned by a foreign government will have full access to the day-to-day operations, and all of the security policies and procedures, used at the ports. Even if they aren't directly providing the security measures, they will have full knowledge of how it all works, where the weaknesses are, and how to get around the procedures that are in place. Since they seem to be in this only for the money, they will know how valuable the information they have access to will be on the open market.

If any senator or representative doesn't vote for (1) a bill to make this illegal and (2) the override of *'s veto, it is a strong indication that they probably know of incriminating photos that are being held by Rove & company.

This whole thing stinks as bad (if not far worse) as just about everything else this administration has pulled.

20. Oh it'll be fine....
...after all only 2 of the 9-11 hijackers came from the UAE. And so what if a large chunk of OBL's money that he used to fund the 9-11 bombings were laundered through the UAE as well. And they openly hampered our attempts to hunt down Bin Laden. Big deal, they promised that they were really really sorry, and would help us on the war on terror. That's good enough for me.

And so what if they are a non-democratic sheikdom that rules with an iron fist, and has as bad human rights violation record that you will find anywhere in the middle east? After all, it's not like the entire war on terror's premise is "spreading freedom and democracy" or something.

Why do you hate Arabica?

They're just looking for something to hate and don't care about the answers or even the problem.

It's why their propaganda works regardless of what it says, as long as it tears down another human being or class or race or religion the rethugs are happy.

23. Hitler's followers - not the "good Germans", but the true believers -
were exactly like that. Whatever came up, they swallowed it, even if to-day the exact opposite of yesterday was being said. Hero-worship will do this. I'm talking of worship, not admiration. When you worship you leave everything behind, your rational thinking first.

I don't know how many per cent of Americans worship Bush - but beware of those who do. They are very dangerous. Even if they look stupid.
