why bush is like atticus finch (1:45 a.m est)
he is 'standing up' for the innocent, even though it would be popular and easy to ditch the innocent. But if w. (or atticus finch) do the easy thing, they give up what is important to them (free trade oil / setting a proper role model). sleepy

4. Yeah. Right.
I about fell out of my chair when I heard Tweety compare * to Atticus Finch.

I haven't had drugs that good in years.

7. Just when I think that Ass-Kissin' Tweety could not sink any lower
in moral relativism, the ole' power pandering jerk goes and compares * with one of the most humble and dignified characters in American Literature, i.e., Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird.

I thought that was one of THE MOST ABSURD comparisons any Bush Co tool has spewed in the history of Cable News.

Let's compare and contrast? :-)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Atticus Finch
This fictional role model defended an innocent POOR African American Man

Our President
is defending a Mega-Wealthy, Government owned, Powerful Non-American Corporation.

Atticus Finch
was used and/or degraded by the Powerful White People in the area and literly spit upon by one man.

Our President
was appropriately criticized for his hot temper and arrogance of power --> for acting like a hood and immediately threatening a VETO if the Congress didn't continue to act as the Executive Branches Rubber Stamp.

Atticus Finch
Atticus knows the meaning of compromise and respects all peoples. (Agreed to read to his daughter if she would attended school). Finally, Atticus represents the ideals of a loving
father and and representative for the downtrodden and disenfranchised.

Our President
Save for SS reform, * always wins. He's in constant Campaign Mode traipsing across our Country (on our dime!) ... prancing in front of pre-screened audiences. He uses these Wizard of Oz speeches to ARROGANTLY preach how it's gonna be! On this issue he insists that no further investigation into UAE is needed, i.e., delusions of Grandeur? He's without concern for the welfare of anyone but himself and "his posse" of power craven sociopaths and their coven of sycophants. Um ... like TWEETY!?! :puke:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

On both intelligence and moral character scales, * and Atticus are as different as night and day.

Tonight's insane blather has fully convinced me that Tweety is one of the most shameless Media Whores of all time. In brief, Tweety's DESPICABLE! :P

10. Thank you ...
Tell you what? I'm sort of shy and admittedly - not a gifted writer. Therefore, anyone here has my permission to pretty up my post. Please feel free to use any of my points above. :-)

11. I'm on my way to bed, and DU isn't the best on weekends, but
your post was great!
I have watched Tweety for years. He was beyond the pale mentioning Atticus, but no surprise.
I don't know where he comes from politically, but at times he can be 'fair'. He confuses me!

12. I object to the phrase "Our President"
I voted against him both times. He lost the first and probably rigged the second. I'm just couting time til he's safely drunk back wherever he goes after this.

He ISN'T MY PRESIDENT

13. Atticus Finch is a literary character
so comparing bush* to Atticus is not to be taken LITERALLY

However on Historic "literal" portrayals, there are more apt comparisons...

Nero who fiddled while Rome burned

Marie Antoinette of the "..Let them eat cake..." fame

Cleopatra - Queen of "de"-nile

Bagdad Bob during "shock & awe" - "we are winning..."
