Payback time in Iraq...
'It is highly doubtful, however, that Zarqawi or the Ba'athists would commit such a crime against such a holy place. First, al-Qaeda attacks are usually deadly. Bombs go off and hundreds are killed. Had al-Qaeda wanted to inflict pain, it would have detonated the bombs in broad daylight, during prayer time on a Friday. It is clear that this attack was intended to ignite tension, not to kill - nobody was in the initial attack.' http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/HB25Ak02.html

3. Not to be overly sarcastic
But, this is just opinion. Highly doubtful? Why? According to whom? According tho this man's thought process.

To quote Mr. Sami Moubayed:

'The Sunnis are paying the price for refusing to carve up Iraq. They are paying the price for refusing Iranian intervention in Iraqi affairs.'

Uh-huh.

While ultimately the blame for the mosques destruction may lie with US, however, until I see evidence (first hand) not the wild speculations of people based on rumor, theory, conjecture and personal beliefs, the US did not blow up the mosque.

would have crowed to low heaven in this case; but no one has claimed responsibility. granted, i wouldn't care to say it was me, or some idiot under my watch, that dropped 'the sistine chapel', so maybe that's a given, but clearly the story is developing.

5. Well, did any one claim the attack on the Wedding Party in Amman Jordan
last year? I think once public opinion was vehemently against the perpetrators, they scurried away as opposed to proudly claiming credit...

6. i thought they had traced some back to zarqawi, wasn't one of them...
a woman from a husband & wife suicide team? i thought she basically laid it out in zarqawi terms. the president of iran says it's israel & america. in a thread i started the other day, someone else mention mousaad...which was roundly discounted. this i know...

if i did not want the credit for destroying an over-arching holy symbol, relic, or ark of my people however disperse, i would get that word out there. that i did not do it, nor sanction it.

from within any silence, zarqawi will be implicated being the source of such woe over there already.
