"GOP Have Lost '06" - that WILL be the headline after the mid-terms, now that they're about to 'compromise' on an issue their constituents are totally against.

He says whatever is good for money, and besides he got off one of the best blasts on bush i ever hear, concerning the appointment of Bob Bernanke to the Fed he said "despite the fact that he is extremely capable and qualified, bush decided to appoint him anyway". He is also against the deficet spending and blames the party in power for the trade deficit. Besides the man made me a shitload of cash.

good for money, in brinkers eyes, means what is good purely and only,,... for the idle rich.

His only road to helping the old, weak and sick... is charities. which has never been adequate.

20.  Dubai firm would not have monopolies at U.S. ports :CNN
The British company selling its operations at six major U.S. ports to a state-controlled Arab firm has operations in 23 U.S. port cities but not a monopoly at any of the ports to be sold, according to the company's Web site.

Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security has released a document stating that DP World, which plans to take over some operations from British-based P&O in a deal worth $6.8 billion, will not "operate or manage any U.S. port."

The deal has been stalled amid bipartisan concerns over security. But if it goes through, DP World will operate 11 of the 43 terminals in the six ports: two of 14 in Baltimore, Maryland; one of five in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one of three in Miami, Florida; two of five in New Orleans, Louisiana; four of 12 in Houston, Texas; and one of four in Newark, New Jersey, according to the Department of Homeland Security news release.

P&O also has service operations in 17 other cities, including New York, according to its Web site, which refers to the company as "the largest independent stevedore and terminal operator on the U.S. East and Gulf coasts with operations in most ports from Maine to Texas."

23. Fuck the MSM. Pick a side and stick to your guns. No apologies!
The Repukes are racist scum and they get away with bullshit all the time...in part because they are not wishy-washy or apologetic about their positions. Dems should fight the port deal on principle and stick to a consistent message. When the inevitable DINO falls out of line, this person should be ostrasized and call on their "disloyalty" to the party.

22. If Dems don't fight the compromise, WE WON'T DESERVE 2006.
Now we see that Dems have a REAL CHANCE to appear stronger on the war on terror than King Chimp and the Repukes...let's see which faction of the Democratic party wins out. Will it be the corporate milque-toast DINOs, like Bayh or Harmon (who will passively let the port deal go through) or the TRUE democratic mavericks, like Dean or Feingold?

The mass of American voters are AGAINST THE PORT DEAL. If our Dem leaders don't see this advantage, then it may be time for a strongly progressive third party.

24. Let 'Em Ram It Through...
While Democrats should continue to speak their opposition, if these asshats are so hellbent on destroying the only issue they could possibly win on in November, who am I to try and stop them?

The fact that only 17% of those polled even remotely support any type of a compromise suits me just fine as surely in that remaining 83% are not only you and me but the moderates and independents who will remember the Repugnicans who supported this deal come November.

If anything, the Democrats should force the GOOP to bring this bill to the floor and then submit to a roll call vote. Get every Repugnican who supports this deal on record, then take that vote and plaster it all over their district this fall.

26. GOP working on solution to ports deal
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republicans in Congress are crafting a solution under which the controversial deal allowing a state-owned Arab company to run some terminals at six U.S. ports could move forward.

The agreement would first have to pass a 45-day investigation focusing on the national security implications of the deal, several sources linked to the talks said.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee is encouraging DP World to ask a government review panel to kick-start the investigations, which is the best way to convince lawmakers the transaction won't jeopardize national security, a Frist aide said.

28. I THINK NOT
someone asked in a thread the other day what would happen. and this is what i predicted. The repukes would just as soon die then see bush castrated so they would work out some deal that really didnt change anything, then they will look tough in hearings then, the msm will marginalize our side and the next thing you know it will be a great victory for the repukes. Lets face it bush is done if they overide his veto, they are probably working on the deal so they can talk about it on the shows, and screw us over, and it will become THEIR DEAL, and somehow the sheeple will turn sides and realize that bushy MUST be right. Too bad because this is the stuff that we have been talking about but that the talk radio/press and the sheeple keep fucking us over with

32. I suspect Bushco will offer many billions
of homeland security dollars for port security to buy votes and enrich their friends.

I'm definitely not suggesting this was their plan all along.

But such an offer would fit the situation (from their perspective).

And it would dim the enthusiasm of representatives who are easily distracted by $$$ signs.

35. So let me get this straight....
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee is encouraging DP World to ask a government review panel to kick-start the investigations, which is the best way to convince lawmakers the transaction won't jeopardize national security, a Frist aide said.

So if DP World asks for an investigation, the lawmakers will find them more trustworthy? Is this doublespeak to get out of the secret deal Bush made with DP World by agreeing there be no investigation?

They haven't lost anything, in THEIR minds. That's why they continue with their bullshit agenda. They KNOW they will never lose another election as long as people are voting on their hackable evoting machines. Wouldn't you think MOST administrations would have done an about face when the Plame case came to light? When the LIES about the war came to light? When the Abramoff case came to light? When the fucked up Medicare plan came to light? When the NSA ILLEGAL spying came to light? When the Dubai secret deal came to light? When Veteran's CUTS came to light? When BILLIONS of dollars that came up missing in Iraq came to light? When the VP shoots a man while hunting and tried to COVER IT UP, came to light?

ANY OTHER ADMINISTRATION WOULD HAVE CAVED TO PUBLIC OPINION BY NOW. NOT these people. You have to ask yourself WHY NOT? ANSWER: BECAUSE THEY OWN THE EVOTING MACHINES AND AREN'T WORRIED IN THE LEAST ABOUT LOSING AND BEING INVESTIGATED. They will hack their way to a victory again.
