The solution to the SC/abortion battle: a constitutional amendment
I know it will never happen in our lifetimes, but perhaps progressives can sow the genesis of a constitutional amendment to guarantee the right to an abortion. No more "there's no right to x in the constitution." No more "originalism." No more "states rights" Just an amendment that spells out a woman's right to choose clearly, concisely, and indisputably.

That amendment is not needed with a constitution that guarantees the right to privacy and free speech, but the current ideology of facism in this country has made it necessary. Let's start petitioning.

it will keep them occupied for a little while, as they foam at the mouth, and just generally get truly hysterical at the thought of actually acknowledging a woman's RIGHT to her own body.

2. I don't really see how that helps.
It seems to me that many of the pro-life arguments are based almost entirely on faith, as the justification of their stance tends to be steeped in theology. What's more, many pro-lifers are inconsistent - as if they really *were* pro-life, then they would be part and parcel against the death penalty, *any* wars, etc.

So making an amendment to the Constitution won't quash the debate, it'll still be there - loud as ever.

3. The Constitution was meant for male white land owners
It never, in philosophy or doctrine, attempted to include minorities or women.

The "founding fathers" were only concerned about their rights.
