In particular, the part about the cost of shoes that China is selling below being the cost of shoes IN BRAZIL. They didn't investigate the cost of making shoes IN CHINA. They didn't even try. They have no idea what it costs to make these shoes IN CHINA, and didn't compare wages and standards of living or anything remotely like that.

I'm all against clamping down on legitimate dumping but this case is just a fancy fabrication. China's selling cheap shoes. Not shoes below the cost Chinese companies (I've read 98% of the shoe manufacturing is privately owned in China, which is a remarkably high ratio) require to produce them. Clamping down on selling cheap but legitimately profitable shoes using DUMPING laws is the sort of naked abuse of power that all fans of good government should be sickened by. I certainly am.
