New US Health plan: Win an appearance on "Miracle Worker"
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"? Nice show - no one is entitled to a fancy new Sears-equipped house with a pool or a media room or whatever - nice that they find a "deserving" family and give them a hand. Emotionally manipulative as hell, but it sells.

"Extreme Makeover" These people are healthy and functioning, but are willing to trade their privacy for a mouthful of caps and some nips and tucks - good for them - it's a free country.

But "Miracle Worker"? Why does it strike me as SO wrong that the people featured on the new ABC show "Miracle Worker" aren't getting this work done without having to appear on a TV show?

1. That is so messed up!!
That really disturbs me. No one should have to give up their privacy and go on a tv show to get life-saving medical treatment. I don't consider that entertainment. I mean, can you imagine what the producers are saying to these poor people? "I know the first bone marrow biopsy was painful, but we didn't get the shots we were looking for. We're gonna need you to get into makeup first thing in the morning so we can shoot it again!! Thanks babe."
