Kristol:We Have Not Had A Serious Three-Year Effort To Fight...
Kristol: In Iraq”We Have Not Had A Serious Three-Year Effort To Fight A War In Iraq”

This morning on Fox News Sunday, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, one the staunches defenders of the administration’s policy in Iraq, said the war in Iraq was not a “serious effort.”

Transcript:

BILL KRISTOL: There would not be civil war if Zarqawi had not spent the last 2 1/2 years – had ex-Saddamists with him, very skillfully going on the offensive slaughtering Shia in Karbala, now blowing up the mosque.

CHRIS WALLACE: They’re there. There are going to be more mosques to blow up. What do you do about the terrorists?

KRISTOL: Kill them. Defeat them.

CHRIS WALLACE: We’ve been trying.

KRISTOL: We’ve been trying, and our soldiers are doing terrifically, but we have not had a serious three-year effort to fight a war in Iraq as opposed to laying the preconditions for getting out.

CICI CONNELLY: I think that really begs the question then: what have we been doing over there for three-plus years? You say there hasn’t been a serious effort to rid that region of the terrorists. I just wonder what secretary Rumsfeld would say in response to that or all the U.S. soldiers who have been over there all this time.

KRISTOL: Secretary Rumsfeld’s plan was to draw down to 30,000 troops at the end of major activities.

Essentially, Kristol claims the Iraq war — which he was sure would be a smashing success — isn’t working out because Donald Rumsfeld is Michael Moore.

Another question: Mr. Kristol, if the administration’s policy in Iraq the last three years has not been a “serious effort” why have you spent the last three years defending it?

I think we should send this guy in front of all our military families to see if he gets out alive.

We could have won it if only the politicians had let us. Where have I heard that before. What a pompous little twit he is. Does he have a family? Are his kids in the armed forces? Why not?

2. Funny all these guys who think Iraq would have been a slam dunk
if only we had done it right have never worn the Uniform of their country. They have no idea what it takes. All they know is what they have seen in the movies and by Gawd John Wayne would have defeated them "terrorists". Such wonderful armchair quarterbacks....That is what happens when no one in Charge has any real experience. Only make believe from watching movies, and the arrogance to dismiss those around them with real experience. It must be very embarrassing for those that actually voted for these incompetents.

5. Maybe it's time you got your pampered ass over there, Bill
And showed those rank amateurs what kind of man it takes to do some real killing. Get your fill of blood, Bill. Let the slaughter begin in earnest, because up to now we've just been pussy-footin' around, and we desperately need a man of special quality, a man like you, Bill, to show us what serious killing is all about.

I suggest you take an extra pair of underwear with you Mr. Kristol, if your reaction to seeing the real live killing you so cavalierly advocate is what I think it would be.

7. that's the neocons' new keyword: serious
Brooks has been using it over and over. "All serious people agree." i.e., everyone but those hysterical Democrats. Kristol has a lot of nerve. This war is his baby. He is head of PNAC. Now that it's failed he wants to blame it on everything except his own lazy, irresponsible, nefarious plan.

16. That's exactly correct.
Conservativism is a failed ideology. There are no conservative based systems of governements in the world. There are just many examples of failure.

Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 11:58 AM by leftofthedial
their ignorant religiously insane base is used to hearing their conmen, er, preachers rail against "sodomists." They know the idiots can't really tell the difference.

Zarqawi (who probably doesn't even exist) does not represent Saddam or even the Sunnis.

It's nice to hear them attacking their own, but Kristol is one of the neocons who should stand trial for treason.

15. Kristol has been saying this for a while.
The problem here as always is that Kristol cannot admit that his ideas are a failure. He and his friends had been pushing this Iraq plan for a long time. This is the reality of the situation. It was a bad idea from the start. Admit it.

17. "Stabbed in the back" by the Jews and Leftists worked for Hitler.
It's the same bullshit that Hitler used and has been used by the RW here to excuse the carnage in Vietnam.

They still cling to the idiotic notion that wars are won with bombs and bodycounts.

20. Who's fault is that, Bill?
Republicans calling themselves the 'party of personal responsibility' is just another lie in their playbook of lies.
