Will Bush need to convince Blair to pull plug on Ports Deal by not
allowing the sale to go through? Could there be enough pressure put on that Bush would fear Congress overiding his veto and so the only "face saving alternative" is for Blair to stop it before it goes forward?

3. That might be the pressure that Bush will put on him.
Take the heat off my butt...or you don't get Carlyle. Given that the Brits have put up with almost as much crap from Blair as we have from Bush, I don't think his joining the Carlyle Group would raise such a stink as the article you link implies.

But, he won't get to join Carlyle Group if he doesn't save Poppy Bush's little evil spawn for opening a hornet's next here in America by allowing this sale to go through.

Hey...I'm just speculating. But, I think Bush is in deep trouble over the Ports Deal...and the longer it goes on the more his RW base is going to start questioning the Bushies ties to everything...including 9/11 and beyond. Lindsey Graham was pretty worked up this a.m. about the Deal. And, that's his base. South Carolina has a port...and I'll bet he's hearing it from his Wingers 24/7 there about possibility "Terrorists coming through the Port of Charleston."
