Reid: Bush admin will be noted for "incompetence." No, Harry.
Reid says Bush administration's 'incompetence' will aid Democrats
By SCOTT SONNER
ASSOCIATED PRESS

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said Friday that if midterm elections were held today Democrats would win the five seats they need to draw even in the Senate, due largely to the Bush administration's "general incompetence" at home and abroad.

"This is an administration that is going to be noted for its incompetence not its accomplishments," Reid, D-Nev., said after a forum on Medicare reforms at the University of Nevada's School of Medicine. . . http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/nevada/2006/feb/24/022410415.html

I wish the Democratic leadership would think "outside the Beltway." Of course the Bushites will be known for incompetence, but they will also be known mainly for lying us into an insane unwinnable war, destroying the middle class in favor of tax cuts for the top 1%, crushing civil liberties, denying us just and fair elections, rolling back the New Deal, cynically exploiting divisions to retain power, piling up debt, destroying the environment and giving us the single most inarticulate, unqualified and venal president in American history. There is so much more.
Harry, "competence" was a Dukakis issue in a different era. Of course they are incompetent. That's A (singular) legitimate issue. But voters are looking for principled opposition to an out-of-control administration that is a clear and present danger to the continued existence of this Republic. If the Dems run on "incompetence" as the major issue, they lose. Again. It is one issue, but not the biggest. Wake up, Harry, and provide real leadership. We need you.
Stop the war.
