I think Malloy is right about the ports deal
It's nothing more than the republicans to appear tough on security. Look at how all the talking heads are swooning over Frist for being "tough" on this deal with their "investigation." They're now trying to show "oh it's not so bad." Remember all the republicans care about is PR! That's ALL THEY KNOW. Remember this.

1. They can bend over all they want...
It's not going to please their voters either way, except the terminally freeped.

Anyone who has have a brain is going to be pissed if they capitulate on this.

2. But if it's true
I think it's going to backfire on them this time because it was republicans who were trying to push it through in the first place.

4. Well look for example at Hannity
He started out against this and than like two/three days later he was all for it. And when this first came out Scarborough was talking about this and he had that whole fake outrage and he was swooning over Frist "taking charage." He had three republican pundints on but only Lawrence O'Donnell and when he mentioned Hillary's legislation he was ignored and every time he talked Joe talked over him or cut him off. *sigh*

6. Scarboroughg is still pissed about it
He was beating up on John Fund and some otehr apologist for this deal really hard tonight. He doesn;t like it at all.

It's a weird feeling to be agreeing with Scarborough.

7. I know what you mean
He's the only one I can tune into. He's still pissed? Wow. I'm surprised.
What all is he saying? Is he doing any fact citations on the deal or just the outrage?

15. He's sticking to his story
Unlike Hannity, he's sticking to the same basic reasons. He doesn't like the idea of turning US Ports to foreign governments who do not necessarily have the US's best interests in mind. he also said he was botehred by China controlling ports.

He was getting very angry at John Fund for saying that keane of the 9-11 commission only objected on politial grounds, and he was beating up on a port businessman who was in favor of the deal.

3. I don't think it will work if that was their strategy
I can understand someone coming up with this strategy..if their intention is to cancel
it in the end..then yep, it could work. But it appears they have no intention of canceling
this. Even modifying the plan in some way won't work at this point, that's just my opinion.

9. All of the Rethug talking heads are against it
Scarbourough, O'Lielly, Bill Bennett, and on and on. They got their talking points from KKKarl and told to sink this deal. It makes the Rethugs look tough on national security and it distances themselves from Bu$h and his sinking poll numbers.

13. Karl Rove would never do anything that would
a) Make ALL Republicans look bad to average Americans, or

b) Leave his precious bushie high and dry without his customary chorus of support from a unanimous media.

Perception is what Rove deals in, and the perception stuff is all against bush on this one.

14. Bu$h is a lame duck
W will go off and live on his ranch the rest of his life. Rove might actually want to work in politics again. He wants to be known as the mastermind behind getting Bu$h elected twice.

16. I respectufully disagree with your position.
I've been watching Karl Rove work for twenty years, and he would never do anything this risky for Republicans.

dp

*Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun

Oh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be, some day it's going to come

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun

Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller

Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train

Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too
Cause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with you

Now come and join the living, it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer, soon it will all be true

Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
