Just before the invasion, there was a march planned for Chicago. That afternoon, I had a family illness issue to deal with, and tried to leave downtown early.
On each and every corner there were more than a dozen, heavily armed, black masked and helmetted, and fully body armored with riot sticks, shields and tasers. Each one of them had a full pack of those plastic handcuff straps they now use for crowd control. They made it difficult for Joe Average to move through the city. Their presence seemed to be something out of Nazi Germany.

I think that was the moment that I realized that our country no longer existed as a freedom-loving democracy. The people wanted a peaceful anti-war march, and thousands of heavily armed security responded.
I never did learn from where they all came from. They could not have been chicago police. Not enough women, too many body-building men who had military haircuts. (most Chicago cops have a problem walking a mile, much less than running one) National guard? Who knows? they had no designations. The sole purpose of these blackjacketted bullies was to intimidate, harass, beat up and arrest any war protesters. Of course, they sought and managed to create incidents left and right. Their favorite act was to rip away and smash any camera pointed at them . "National Security" was their excuse. My ass.


Several hundred people were arrested. I tried to go and help represent them, but my firm said no. So I cleaned up my affairs, and two month later, left the firm for a variety of reasons. By then, every single protester was released without charges. But the damage was done. Big Government won that round.

That is the response that we have to contend with and prepare for. Remember, our civil rights mean nothing anymore. Their leaders are the ones who trashed our constitution, who trashed the anti-torture laws of this country and who deliberately ignored the Genevas. Anyone in this country who thinks that the Bushistas will feel compelled to follow the law when it does not suit their goals and purposes, especially the laws governing our rights, well, I have a bridge for sale for you in Manhattan.

The Bushbots managed to quiet much of the coverage, at least locally. Soon, the general population bought into the idea that Al Qaida and 9/11 were joined at the hip, and any criticism of the invasion was unpatriotic. I am still sickened by that series of events.

Now, we are the majority. We can control our destiny. We can change what is happening. Unless, of course, our elected leaders refuse to follow our demands. In that case, it is time to boot them out of office, GOP and DINOs alike.

WE need to get out of Iraq NOW.
We need to stop all Iranian invasion plans.
We need to make peace with Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, and others in this hemisphere. Hell, we need to make peace with Canada and Mexico, while we are at it.
We need to prosecute Haliburton for fraud
We need to chase down all torture issues and prosecute those who caused these horrific events to happen.
We need to STOP the MASS MURDER in Darfur.
We need to start a moon-landing-like crash program to create new energy sources, clean, abundant and available for all of America
We need to feed the poor, and house everyone. EVERY PERSON SHOULD HAVE A HOME in the richest country in the world.
We need to arrest Cheney, Rice, Feith, Bolton, Rummy, Bush, Wolfowitz, and others not yet indicted and charge them with responsibility for all the harm they have done in this world.
We need to stand up and be counted. And we must let our voices be heard.

2. Millions of us

Millions of us got online and did the research, read the UN reports, listened to former government officials, etc..

While the BushBots watched FAUX and turned to RW talk radio.

Now they want to rewrite history.
Not surprising at all.
