This Should Be Democrat's Mantra For Mid-Term Elections
We have seen what works, when it comes to campaign messages: Short, to the point, easy to understand, and are able to resonate with the electorate.

Well, I think I have the perfect message. This message, which SHOULD BE USED BY EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, is easy to remember, and should be used as a drumbeat, at every available opportunity, every stump speech, dinner speech, fundraising event, television interview, radio interview, flyer, newsletter, and anywhere else that the electorate may see or hear.

That message, directed toward all republican incumbents running for re-election is simply this: "YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE!"

"YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE." You, Mr. republican incumbent, who were a willing participant, and complicit part of the lockstep republican party, who ran roughshod over us democrats, to help the White House produce failed and incompetent leadership, which has resulted in one failed policy and scandal after another, CANNOT RUN AWAY FROM WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! YOU, MR. republican incumbent, are as much responsible for the mess we find ourselves in now, as the White House is. For without your lockstep vote, which has allowed the gross incompetence and corruption by YOUR LEADERSHIP to manifest itself to NEW LEVELS, we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in today as a nation.

Now, you see your failings. Now, you are feeling the heat from your constituents. Now, you are wanting to distance yourselves from the failings of the Bush Administration. Now, you want to claim that you don't agree with their policies. Well, Mr. Republican incumbent, YOU WERE THERE TO HELP CREATE THIS MESS. THIS IS YOUR MESS AND YOU CANNOT RUN AWAY FROM IT NOW!

YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE!

How is that for a simple and effective message, people?

Please comment.

1. I don't know - sets up an obvious comeback
"I"m not running I'm proud of standing with the President against the Terrorists. If you want to make me ashamed for doing the right thing, you'll have to do better than that" or something like that.

But then again every line has it's comeback, I suppose.

2. I doubt if any republican incumbent is going to openly embrace
George Bush's failed policies. The chickens are coming home to roost. This is reflected by the polls.

But, you are entitled to your opinion.

5. Sure. Eliot Engel, from NY CD17. I just recently learned that
he's the DLC guy who originated the bill to expedite the original Patriot Act--forced it right through its original acceptance. He's very beholden to a particular constituency here in the Bronx and part of Westchester county--lots of Orthodox Jews who march lock-step with Israeli policy. They are more than happy to have increased US influence in the middle east. I'm one of the many Jews who is in the uncomfortable position of disagreeing with this philosophy.
