Is this True!??
Saw some reporting on a Zogby Poll of troops in Iraq.

"85% believe Saddam was in part responsable for 911 and 77% said they also believe the main or a major reason for the war was “to stop Saddam from protecting al Qaeda in Iraq."

Are we spoon feeding our troops Rush Limbaugh and Faux News 24/7?...wait, don't answer that...I'm in the military, and every fucking TV in our command is tuned to Faux News 24/7.

Yep, I guess that's about right. Might as well poll "people that get their news from talk radio".

1. Those are truly sad statistics. I think that the military must do it
on purpose, because how else would they keep people fighting.

3. Zogby poll in NYT with different results...
An op-ed from Nicholas Kristof in today's NYTimes (Select) says that in a recent Zogby poll of 900+ soldiers in Iraq...

"Only 23 percent backed Mr. Bush's position that they should stay as long as necessary.

In contrast, 72 percent said that U.S. troops should be pulled out within one year. Of those, 29 percent said they should withdraw "immediately."

That's one more bit of evidence that our grim stay-the-course policy in Iraq has failed. Even the American troops on the ground don't buy into it — and having administration officials pontificate from the safety of Washington about the need for ordinary soldiers to stay the course further erodes military morale.

While the White House emphasizes the threat from non-Iraqi terrorists, only 26 percent of the U.S. troops say that the insurgency would end if those foreign fighters could be kept out. A plurality believes that the insurgency is made up overwhelmingly of discontented Iraqi Sunnis.

So what would it take to win in Iraq? Maybe that was the single most depressing finding in this poll.

By a two-to-one ratio, the troops said that "to control the insurgency we need to double the level of ground troops and bombing missions." And since there is zero chance of that happening, a majority of troops seemed to be saying that they believe this war to be unwinnable."

4. Yes. But a story in LBN gives more results of the poll.
More than 70% think it's time to leave Iraq--no matter what propaganda they hear.

8. I Think we are talking about the same poll here
but I was specifically flaberghasted at the "internals, or other questions"

Yes, over 70% want to get the hell out of there. But that's like asking the guys in the boats and on the beach if they wanted to get out of Normandy beach.

What is most troubling to me is that 85% think Saddam had something to do with 9/11, and 77% think he was "protecting Al-Quada in Iraq".

That's mis-information on a massive, almost "biblical" scale.

Good questions.

7. Maybe that's why soldiers aren't get any body armor
Once returning vets find out the truth, there'll be hell to pay, I'm sure. The less of them the better as far as this administration is concerned. It's a truly cynical viewpoint, but I don't think anything is too low for these criminal in the whitehouse.
