2008 Dem National convention should be held in New Orleans.
What better place to remind voters of republican failures? It would also present the city with needed revenue.

1. Also might not be possible for them to handle...
It is a huge logistical task, and I suspect New Orleans will still be in recovery mode in 2008. I think Minneapolis deserves it. Seeing how Minnesota is the only state to withstand the Reagan onslaught and vote Democrtic in every election since 1972.

2. I'll second that
And keynote addresses could be made in Jackson Square where bush made his fake speech of love and support for the city.

And the republican party convention should be held in Nuremburg.

3. I disagree. Don't you remember how NY complained about the costs
of holding the Pub convention there last year? I believe Boston said the same thing about the Dem convention. There's a hugh expense involved in security, updating facilities etc. to hold one of these "shows". And yes, that's exactly what they are now...TV performance extravaganzas!

6. However
New Orleans loves a reason to party. I'd like to see the dems (in the majority after 06) provide funding to the city for upgrades, security costs etc. That would definitely piss off the holier than thou haters.

4. I've heard that the party is considering changing one of their opening
primaries there instead of Iowa or New Hampshire.

7. Never could understand the rationale
that New Hampshire and Iowa always got to be first.

9. I only saw it on the news
So you have to take it with a grain of salt but Iowa and New Hampshire have gotten a little spoiled with all the attention they get and they've really lost the true focus of what they do. I've heard that it's close to extortion what these two states do to the candidates and play with them to get their votes. Demanding this and that, free concerts, free food, etc.

11. Extortion is a good word
Especially when I think it is fair to say that the populations of those two states do not represent a cross section of Americana and the total vote count is extremely small.

8. I actually think it should happen in a swing state
like say Virginia, Ohio, Missouri or Florida...purple states that have recently gone red but could go blue with a little effort.

10. YES, it should be! Think of the money the city and state could make.
That is the BEST IDEA YET for the Dem convention venue/state! Does anyone know Howard Dean well enough to call him and suggest it???:hi:
