Wonder why he did that? I've tended to look with a jaundiced eye on politicians who appear to be "using" uniforms - a certain flight suit that none of us can forget comes to mind.

Just curious if anybody else noticed/had any thoughts about it.

1. He dressed up has Superman for Halloween
a year or so ago, so what the heck, it's Mardi Gras.

I have to admit, he looked hot in that Superman outfit.

so he dressed up as the general. Other folks were dressed as White Trash, Trailer Trash and FEMA Trailer. It's Mardi Gras! It's for fun!

Laissez les bon temps roulet!

As an avid equestrian, I must note that Mayor Nagin looked fine on his beautiful white horse named Paddy Girl riding throught the streets of NOLA!

8. I suppose Nagin just added some more stars. Why not? It's Mardi Gras!

:)

I do understand I some of our military DUers might not like the uniform used as a Mardi Gras costume.

11. To be perfectly honest,
I'm beside myself about it. I couldn't forgive a Democrat I liked for this, and I sure can't forgive Nagin for it. I had problems with Nagin even before the "chocolate city" remarks that basically spat on diversity, and now I have no more regard for him than I have for just about any Republican you can name.

12. You do know Nagin is former GOP? He used to be a bigwig at Cox Cable
He switched parties to run for mayor, because NOLA likes Dems, ya see.

in the last election; that little snot bobby jindal against Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, Her Honor, Madam Governor.

You said you did in another post lower in the thread; I'm not giving you crap, I'm just wondering what's to like about him. I honestly can't find a reason.

21. I'm not a resident of NOLA
but I find him to be a "nice guy." I would never vote for the man after his performance in the last two years. He is a guy I'd like to have a beer with on a balcony bar in the quarter but he's a weak mayor in my opinion and certainly is doing the poor residents not a damn bit of good.

24. Well, what it is, is what it is.....I couldn't get it either
I mean, for real, this guy does actually KNOW about living in Chocolate City (the real one, DC, when he worked at COX) and for the life of me I could not understand WHY he would register GOP.

He really should have taken a POLISCI class or two from the daddy of JC WATTS....who averred that any one of color voting for a GOP type was akin to a chicken voting for the Colonel.

Smart man, that father of JC. Proof that, no matter how fucked up the acorn, the tree may still be sturdy and strong.

you know to say he was a longtime Dem when he announced. I think he only endorsed Kerry a week or so before the election.

I respect your opinion. I however, don't have a problem with the costume.

6. I especially liked the
Heckuvajob Brownie troop with merit badges for alcohol abuse and mold remediation amongst others. And there is always a large penis or two strolling the quarter on Mardi Gras. What a town!

4. I do like ray nagin
and have chronicled his actions since the hurricane but on some days I truly believe he's lost his mind. Two days after the hurricane he got into a knock down shouting match on New Orleans radio as I listened on a battery operated radio in my garage with no electricity or water after the hurricane. Then he talked of a "chocolate city" and he's cross swords with the city council.

I retired three years ago and haven't worn my uniform since. They have a purpose and it should not be to further the good fortunes of a politician, whether he served or not. I don't know if Ray served but I do know he wasn't a four star general.

9. That was my feeling too, Boss.
As you know, like you I also wore a uniform, and the respect I have for the military uniform extends far beyond it as an article of clothing - it has to do with my admiration for the men and women who wear it. I also hung mine up years ago (couldn't get into today to save my life anyway), but I wouldn't wear it even if I could.

I guess it's OK in these days to use one as a costume. I just wish it wasn't. Just my opinion.

10. Its so strange
how much my uniforms have shrunk over the years. I've kept my dress blues (I don't know why) and a couple sets of Khakis in case I get to be an invited retiree at a CPO pinning ceremony. While I would not legislate not wearing the uniform, the creative minds in New Orleans can come up with so much more during Mardi Gras. Hang in there Teammate!

and chase his girlfriend that was dressed as an egg.

It's Mardi Gras for gods sake.
