Frist now says he is "more comfortable" with the ports deal.
Well, as long as he's comfortable. The Port of Knoxville is safe!

====
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said on Tuesday that more information had made him more comfortable with a deal for a state-owned Dubai company to manage terminals at major U.S. seaports.

Last week Frist asked the Bush administration to put the deal on hold, saying it needed a more thorough review. Over the weekend, the White House and the company, Dubai Ports World, agreed to a new, 45-day security review of the contract, which closes this week.

"As I've gotten more information, I have a greater comfort level" with the Bush administration's decision granting approval of the deal, Frist, a Tennessee Republican, said.

Asked if he would bring legislation affecting the ports deal to the Senate floor while the new 45-day review is going on, Frist said, "No."

1. Let me guess, Bill
The information you got is secret, right?

So, we should just trust you on this one, yes?

I swear I have houseplants with more intelligence than this submoron has.

12. No need to apologize
I'm one state north of you, and we have a whole crew of misfits and psychotics representing us: Criminal governor, criminal senior senator, addled and senile junior senator, and on and on.

What DID Frist learn anyway? Did he get a briefing from the White House explaining how he should ignore the Coast Guard and DHS when they warned the White House about terrorism concerns vis. the port deal? Really, play the hypothetical game for a minute, what valid thing could the White House have told Frist to make him support this deal all of a sudden, given that the Coast Guard warned that they couldn't be sure Dubai Ports wasn't connected to terrorism?

And yes, we all know that Frist is spineless idiot bag of hot air, but setting that aside, it's useful to note that his argument could not possibly hold water against this Coast Guard warning.

3. He's been saying he's more comfortable for several days.
I guess at the exact moment in which Karl Rove has his way with you, there's some pain. With proper rest, nutrition, and pain relievers such as Aspirin or Tylenol, the pain subsides and is eventually replaced with comfort. That's where 2008 presidential candidate Bill Frist is now.

Do you remember the photo below? It was taken within a day or two of Frist opposing Bush on stem cell research. LOOK at the body language...Bush moving in, Frist backing off...they dragged Catkiller behind closed doors and when he came out, Uncle Karl helped him affix an "I-Heart-Dubai" bumper sticker to his car.

I'd lay MONEY on that.

Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 04:44 PM by gatorboy
And ask where these repugs damn pride is. Even if Dubai company has nothing to do with the security of the ports, it's still deplorable that Bush and his cronies would do any business with these folks at all, especially when they would not co-operate with us after 9/11. It's like taking the man to dinner that raped your mother...

...eh, Frist? Well, that's okay, I'm sure you earn enough to be able to change your shorts a couple of times a day, if necessary.
