Abortion today---->Contraception tomorrow---->Then what? Women's Suffrage?
If anyone thinks that the ultimate goal isn't to beat women back down into chattel, they are seriously mistaken. This is going to do nothing except empower other states to do the same. It is going to show us why these states are really "red"...with the dripping blood of botched back alley abortions. Once the states are empowered, the pharmacists will attack again and refuse morning after as well as traditional BC pills.
I kept telling myself that NO WAY in the 21st century in the USA would abortion be banned. We fought and won this fight 30 years ago.
But yet here we are.
Ladies, educate yourself and seek and identify others sympathetic to the cause. Develop networks.
Call your local Planned Parenthood office.
If you can't donate money, donate time.
Our sisters did it before us and it is up to US to continue the fight for our daughters and grandaughters.

This is our fight. One we cannot afford to lose.

1. I'll be opening the DU franchise of Burqas R Us any day now.
In the meantime, we should all be writing to our state senators and representatives to let them know in no uncertain terms that we will not stand for this nonsense where we live.

This is a very jittery election year for the GOP. They can't afford to fight too many fronts. Make it an issue now so it won't be an issue in a couple of months. Get everyone you know to write. Help people write. Whomp up some sample letters for them to use.

2. Troll the Fundies
Birth Control IS abortion. Life from fertilization on. ANYTHING that might, and I repeat MIGHT, prevent implantation IS ABORTION to the religious extremists. Go on any Christian website and you will see.

They even blast barrier methods and steriiization are being EVIL.

17. The Dominionists do, in fact, advocate for a return to
biblical law, and stoning to death for adultery and the egregious sin of sassing one's parents.

At this point, the only thing separating them from the Taliban is the fact that they aren't in charge. Not completely, anyway.

6. What's next? If you're slowly dying from cancer, in intractable pain...
It will be, "It's God's plan that you live like an agonized vegetable for the next ____ years -- no, there's no easy way out for you! Plus, the healthcare delivery system (such that it is) is making a bundle off of your corpse while it still breathes, so you must stick around. Now, wipe that blood off your mouth that you just coughed up, and stop hating Amerika!"

Their goal is to repress the rights we've been fighting for generations to achieve.

I'm not about to give up what my sisters fought so hard to obtain.

Out of respect for my grandmother, mother, sister, daughter and myself, I'll fight them until I draw my last breath.

13. Well as long as Democrats Win...Who cares!!!
that is the message women in the democratic party are being sent with the nomination of dumbshits like anti-choice Bob Casey in PA....

The Democratic Party has to a great degree abandoned women on Abortion because they want so badly to win Radical Republican votes that I don't sometimes recognize my own party....

I swear I have become so enraged by how women's issues are handled by even our own party. Hell here in PA we have a bunch of anti-choice Democrats who are sitting in the state house...they are salivating over screwing up women's rights.

I will not vote for Casey. Living the Handmaid's Tale under democrats is no more appealing than living it under republicans, thank you very much.

Casey blows.

19. I just got an idea.
Why can't we go out into the desert and have our own burning man festival? Just women allowed. We will burn in effigy the straw men who are trying to take our rights from us. We can start with the Governor of South Dakota.

Hey it could be fun. A camp out with like minded women to vent our frustration and maybe even brainstorm some good ideas and plans to take back our rights.

Whadda say DU women?

25. Only problem is that it's not just men
In fact, it was a woman who was the main sponsor of the bill.

I'm a little curious to hear some details on how they will enforce the law. The social costs are enormous, yes. Will the 'smaller government' people be bitching about the cost of having investigations, arrests, and prosecutions? hmmm...

26. On another post I said we should burn in effigy all the
women who enable these right wingers as well. The reason I want an all girl party of progressive and liberal women is that sometimes we need to get together to brainstorm these problems from a strictly female POV.

I went to all girls' schools and I know even one male in a group of women can change the dynamic. This way, when we come away from the gathering, we can tell them what we discovered about ourselves and what we have decided to do to protect our rights. Then they can join in if they agree with us.
