CBS: We're increasing troop levels in Iraq.
Cripes! How are we going to do that?

David Martin: Instead of pulling troops out, 700 on standby are moving in. For a month. Right.

Sunday marks a Karbala pilgrimage.

87 bodies turned up.

3. Didn't the President 2 days ago say that Iraqi military and police
control 20,000 square miles and progress is going swimmingly? What happened in 2 days? Is the President making it up? I'm soooooooooo confused.

4. Guard and Reserves, OUT--Active Duty Forces, IN!!!
Why do you think they are sending the poor putzes who thought they were in the "safe" service (USAF) through COMBAT TRAINING???

They are reversing the ratio--and the active duty kids aren't smiling either. They are seriously pissed off, in fact. But for now, they're stuck.

This is why the Guard/Reserve recruiting numbers are inching back up. The recruiters are showing the kids, and their stupid parents, the newspaper articles that say that the Active Duty forces are going to resume the brunt of the load. They can sincerely look those folks in the eye and tell them the odds are small that their kid joining the Guard or Reserves is going to EyeRack.

Until, of course, DOD CHANGES THE FREAKING POLICY!!!!!

Aim high, sure...but keep your body armor on and your head down, kid!

6. Th Brits reduce by 800 and we increase by 700
:freak:

But that's probably just a coincidence, right?

UK troop numbers to fall by 800

The number of UK troops in Iraq will be reduced by 800 to 7,000, Defence Secretary John Reid has announced.

8. Got to up the number a bit- even it's a strain.
That way, they can pull those 700 out ahead of the elections and crow about how we're "reducing troop levels".
