Bush to reporter: "I don't pay attention to the polls." (he doesn't care)
During the press conference, a reporter (I forget which) asked Bush how to get the American citizens back on his side. (I'm obviously paraphrasing). Bush's response? "That's a trick question, because you want me to admit that I pay attention to the polls when I've always said that I don't pay attention to the polls."

Hey Bush: If you DON'T pay attention to the polls, how did you even understand the context of the reporter's question, and how would you know that it was a trick question? You know what I think? I think you simply don't give a shit about the American people, or their voices, unless they've paid you hundreds of thousands of dollars for an audience with your highness. I see the proof of that in New Orleans. I see the proof in the body bags coming back from Iraq. I see the proof in the removal of pollution regulations. I see the proof in the Valerie Plame affair. I see the proof in the attempted privatization of Social Security.

Any person who voted for Bush in 2004 gets no sympathy from me. They saw with their own eyes the rotten performance of Bush's first term, and still voted for him. To those Republicans I say: every time a soldier dies in Iraq, it is on your head. Each child killed in Iraq is partially your fault. Every time a lower-income person dies because of a lack of medicine, it is on your head. All those deficit dollars that you pass down to your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, are because of your stupidity.

You Bush voters better wake up and start taking responsibility for your actions. It's almost assured that Bush won't.

1. bush is a liar...he does pay attention to the polls
The Harriet Miers thing, the 9/11 commission are the two things off the top of my head, but looking back over his flip flops, he's only done it when the polls say he should...

well, except for Iraq. Americans want the troops home, but they love the oil more.

8. We all know he's a liar
In fact, I can't remember a politician that paid MORE attention to the polls. Every time his poll numbers drop, we start getting stories about duct tape and canned tuna fish. We get an elevated terror alert level. We get bullshit reports of L.A. skyscrapers that were saved only because of Bush's "war on terra."

He hasn't done anything substantive to raise his poll numbers other than to release bogie-man stories to scare the American people into capitulation. His policies amount to little more than a climate of fear and threatening rhetoric. Those policies kill people, and deep down he doesn't care.

9. Everytime Bush tanks in the polls he goes on a PR tour
to drive his numbers back up. This "conference" is a prime example.

2. That's TOTAL bullshit
Politicians live and die by polls...
it shows them where to find votes and money.
High numbers mean political capital
and low numbers mean you're vulnerable.

The whole reason the Bush regime is in panic mode
is because they are absolutely tanking in the polls.
And their polls are a lot more precise than the polls
we see on TV.

Whatever... the real takeaway is. no surprise..
George Bush is a liar. Again.

3. LOL Does Bush think he's knows better than the American people?
Has he been so SUCCESSFUL?

Oh, yes. I'll trust THAT guy over my own instincts. Especially when I've been right every single damned time I've disagreed with his decisions. Which happens every time he makes a decision.

4. Oh sure, he doesn't pay attention to the polls
He fully intended to come out with a whole bunch of speeches to bolster public support for the Iraq invasion, and why he's actually having a press conference. "See, ya gotta unnerstand that Dubya dudn't pay 'ttention to the polls; dudn't look at 'em at all. He really LIKES press conferences, see."

I smell bullshit.

5. shrub's entire political persona is built around polls!
there's "no there there" beyond the polls and focus groups. he leaves the policy decisions to others. ALL HE DOES is deliver the message, which is all carefully crafted and orchestrated for maximum impact on the polls and based on focus groups.

his presidency is nothing but a stumbling, bumbling poll manipulation machine.

that and the embezzlement, of course.

6. As someone said, in the end, "We'll get what they deserve".
Where "they" refers to Bush supporters, and what we'll get will be economic ruin/poverty/debt and high taxes, fewer and fewer decent jobs, astronomical healthcare costs with no insurance to be had, skyrocketing prices/falling wages, defunct/failing/unavailable social "safety net", poisoned environment and irretrievably damaged climate, overpriced poor quality educational resources, increased terrorism and constant foreign threats, the ill-will/hatred of most of the rest of the world, more and more criminalization of our society as it proceeds towards "conservative" police state while religious dictates are raised to the power of law, and so on. Just what the typical republican/conservative/righ-winger deserves. Alas, we're guilty too--if only by association/proximity--we're U.S. citizens too.

7. Randi Rhodes had a great reply to that today of Lou Dobbs........
She said that the polls are of we the people, and if he doesn't listen to the polls, he isn't listening to us. Meaning the entire country.

Not an exact quote, had to listen to it on XM on my way home tonight.

10. That's my exact point (but put more succinctly)
He's telling us to our faces that he doesn't give a shit what our opinions are, even as he's destroying OUR America.
