Four-Letter Film Headed to Theaters
Four-Letter Film Headed to Theaters

On the heels of last year's The Aristocrats, THINKFilm recently announced that they'll be distributing Fuck, a cinematical look at the origins of this societally-shunned word. Where The Aristocrats came from the eclectic Penn Gillette, this brow-raising feature is Steve Anderson's brainchild; when thinking about whether to make the film, he eventually asked himself, "Why the fuck not?!"

THINKFilm is known for taking risks in the features it releases, and Fuck is no exception. The film features interviews with over one hundred actors and performers, each expressing what the multi-definition word means in their lives. Anderson, in what can only be perceived as an attempt to add a little credibility to the movie, says he wanted to disect the roots of the word and debunk some of the myths behind its origins. It covers everything from U2's Bono slip of the tongue on national TV to VP Dick Cheney's infamous outburst during an intense congressional session. Celebs from George Carlin (the reigning expert) to Billy Connelly, who were both featured in The Aristocrats, make reappearances, in addition to some unexpected names like Alanis Morriesette and Sam Donaldson.

Like The Aristocrats, just the subject matter of the film is going to spark controversy. In fact, Anderson admits as much on the film's website. But also like The Aristocrats, it seems Fuck is thought-provoking and (surprise!) entertaining. "I don't personally believe that the content of the film, when you sit down to watch it from beginning to end, is all that controversial; in fact, it's thoughtful," Anderson says in the IndieWIRE interview.

Well, the reviews of the flick should be interesting...

6. Is the expression "Cheney yourself" more acceptable here?

Apparently, they plan to include the Vice President's comment in the Senate in the new film "Fuck" --

Did you see this? Here's the way somebody in our town sent a holiday greeting on his roof in December 2005.

3. I'm emailing all of the Portland OR reviewers about this.
I am not invited to THINK film previews. One of their publicists in New York sent me a screener once when I complained. Maybe I'll complain again.

Thanks for the post.
