If a Dem lies to Congress, it's perjury; If a Repub. it's the SOTU address
Best Mark Russell quote in the whole piece!

"It's reached a point where if a Democrat lies to Congress it's called perjury, and if a Republican lies to Congress it's called the State of the Union address," he said.

Satirist needles Republicans, Democrats

By Julio Ochoa

Monday, March 27, 2006

The president's approval rating is at an all-time low, support for the war in Iraq is waning and a lobbying scandal has divided Washington, D.C.
But one person who is not complaining about the turmoil is political satirist Mark Russell, who had more than enough new material for his comedy and musical routine at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Estero on Saturday.

"My big break in show business was Watergate, and all of the sudden I'm feeling born again," Russell told a crowd of almost 350, gathered for the 10th anniversary of the Bonita Springs Speakers Assembly.
Russell has poked fun at all sides of the political spectrum for nearly 50 years, including 27 seasons of comedy specials on PBS.
"As far as Congress goes, I don't think of them as Republicans and Democrats. I think of them as brainwashed and brain dead," said Russell, a registered independent.

When Bill Clinton ran against Bob Dole in 1996, he voted for Ross Perot, "because at the time I thought I needed the material," Russell said. "Who knew at the time that the intern would show up with the pizza."
Living in Washington, D.C., provides him with an ample supply of material, and when the recent Jack Abramoff lobbyist scandal broke, he knew he hit the mother lode.

Bumper stickers already are starting to appear around the country that say "Run, Hillary. Run," Russell said. "Of course, they are on the front bumper."
He moves from standup comedy to his piano, where he belts out his own version of familiar favorites, such as "The Bird Flu Blues" sung to the tune of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

1. This belongs on a bumpersticker
"It's reached a point where if a Democrat lies to Congress it's called perjury, and if a Republican lies to Congress it's called the State of the Union address," he said.

Bumpersticker fodder, anyone?

2. If Dem President lies about sex, it is an impeachable offense
and he is an immoral leader who is bad for our children.

If a Republican Preident lies about a war, he is a godly man, worthy of our adoration and respect because he is defending our children and our faith.
