"KNOXVILLE, TENN. - Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander and Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., oppose the Bush administration’s plan to sell nearly 3,000 acres of the Cherokee National Forest along the North Carolina border as part of a national public lands sale to pay for roads and schools in rural communities.

"I think the administration, with all respect, needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a better idea," Alexander said Monday.

Alexander, a Republican, said selling the land would be shortsighted."

to comment on anything NC, I'm surprised she is standing up for this. First time she's been right on any issue that I remember. I'd thank her, but I want to see her follow through first.

6. The West, where the most land is located also don't back W
These lands are public lands where millions of acres are open for recreating, hunting, and fishing.

We haven't sold out to private ownership where they raise game such as quail and then flush them out so the staged hunters think themselves as macho sportsmen.

Or they pen in deer and release them for an easy kill.

This version of hunting is abhorred by Westerners. Big time. W's Texas is 100% privately owned, so animals are set up for the easy kill.

Email and Fax - Forest Service Public Comment

We are in the final 2 days of Public Comment on the most recent Attack on America from the Bush Administration, the loss of huge portions of our national heritage. At stake is the largest sale of our National Forests since the founding of the NFS 100 years ago. In 41 states, over 300,000 acres are proposed to be put on the auction block, including over 10,000 in Oregon, 7,500 in Mississippi, 20,000 in Missouri, 23,000 in Colorado, 75,000 in California and more.

The Forest Service is taking Public Comment. They request emails or fax.

9. How surprising
They all vote for environmental destruction when it's in someone else's
back yard, but when Bush is ready to turn their childhood vacationland into
denuded wasteland, they suddenly become environmentally conscious.

Maybe if a few more of their children had come home from Iraq missing a few
limbs, they would have been less eager to fund the continuation of the occupation
in the incompetent way it has been persued up to this point. How sad that it has
to come knocking on their door at breakfast for them to wake up. A little
far-sightedness never hurt anyone.
