Actually, I posted it because of my annoyance that both NPR and CNN and now USA Today are giving it airtime.

41 hours. Big whoop.

The story made it seem like he was fending for himself in the wilds of Wal*Mart for some protracted period, when in fact he was loitering in comfort for a little more than a day and a half.

In the NPR piece, the loiterer billed it as a sort of experiment in people-watching, but his insights were trivial, along the lines of "you see different kinds of people with different kinds of clothes."

Christ. You can make that same observation during a half-hour layover at a Greyhound station.

What a survivor's story this guy has to tell.


I don't mind when CNN--the nadir of serious journalism--wastes its time on this pap, but NPR aspires to a higher standard but all too often falls back on inane puff pieces like this one.
