Fearless Hugh Hewitt, on the frontline in the war on terror.
http://feeds.huffingtonpost.com/huffingtonpost/raw_feed?m=1484

The third-tier talk show host strapped on his kevlar helmet and bravely reported from the front lines of the terror war while interviewing Michael Ware, a Time Baghdad correspondent:

MW: Let's look at it this way. I mean, you're sitting back in a comfortable radio studio, far from the realities of this war.

HH: Actually, Michael, let me interrupt you.

MW: If anyone has a right...

HH: Michael, one second.

MW: If anyone has a right to complain, that's what...

HH: I'm sitting in the Empire State Building. Michael, I'm sitting in the Empire State Building, which has been in the past, and could be again, a target. Because in downtown Manhattan, it's not comfortable, although it's a lot safer than where you are, people always are three miles away from where the jihadis last spoke in America. So that's...civilians have a stake in this. Although you are on the front line, this was the front line four and a half years ago.

1. And I live about a mile from ground zero, the former WTC. I guess I
deserve a medal or something.

What a gasbag.

6. Oh my gods! Thank you for doing your part!
:patriot:

Not to brag or anything, but I am across the East River (and up a bit) from where the jihadists last spoke.

12. You and I are true patriots, BurtWorm. And brave, too.
;-)
:hi:

On a more serious note, for many months afterward, I — and the rest of my neighbors — could smell the smoke from the ruins. (Always after 10PM, when the wind would switch to a northern direction.)

On a less serious, but just as true note — Hewitt is an asswipe.

14. I smelled it on the Upper West Side where I live
and in Queens where I work.

I mean the smoke, not Hewitt. ;)

13. and I live only 32 miles from the Sears Tower, which was supposedly
pretty high up on binLaden's list, if he'd been able to get a few more planes

I live close to OHare, and I still shudder every time I hear a jet coming in a bit low for a landing

semper fi, Hugh!

7. I always have to giggle at a 'Hugh Hewitt' thread.
HH was my husband's advisor and ConLaw professor when Hubby attended. Hubby said he was a pretty good law professor, who kept his personal views to himself. Then Hewitt took a different turn ..

11. somebody started a thread on this the other day. the question is:
did Olbermann, or any other media outlet pick up on this?

Ware is one of the few corporate media journalists who actually has been sticking it to the administration

his CNN interview, in which, IIRC, he called them LIARS WRT the Iraqi troops' combate readiness (the centerpiece engagement which the DOD trumpeted was one in which he WITNESSED Iraqi soldiers curled up in balls of fear) is available on transcript, and is well worth reading

HH should be a prime candidate for Worst Person in the UNIVERSE
