The Real CAPTION Thread (trademark)
Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 06:21 AM by skip fox
(My browser is not reading the original.)

W. is saying: ". . . and actually a civil war isn't so bad. Maybe it's even necessary. Why, in our country we had a constitution for ten or fifteen years before Abe Lincoln came along and said, 'Let's have a civil war.' We had all these differences, see? So it was like 'natural.' A civil war is just part of growing up into a modern democracy. . . . So, you see, if Iraq explodes in civil war, it just shows how we're really winning. And it only took them one year after a constitution . . . Wow, we're good! . . . next question."

6. W. continues, " . . . and perhaps if we all had more civil wars we'd all
be better off, . . . a more modern world . . . advanced technoogy . . . bigger democracies . . . no more having to watch what I eat and so on . . . in fact maybe I should call for one right now in the United States . . . what's so good about being 'united,' anyway . . . it's like two dogs in the street or something . . . or like when a lug-nut gets stuck . . . we should be so lucky to have a civil war . . . Hey! . . . Maybe I just have to call myself! . . . Wow.)

7. W. continues, " . . . Now if a civil war gets out of hand and it looks
like a danger to democracy then we might have to step in . . . on the side of democracy, of course . . . and freedom . . . which is why they hate us . . . that should be clear . . . . Next question."

8. W. continues, "No, Jim, I'm not trying to brush Iraq under the rug.
I mean there's not a rug big enough, or enough big rugs, or even if you added all the astro-turf and the sod and . . . and it all includes carpets too, right? . . . like all the Persian carpets? . . . and the hard wood floors . . . and . . . and . . . What was the question again?"

9. W. is saying: "Such questions as that hardly merit an answer, Tom.
I resent the fact that you think it was illegal. We didn't just start spying on Americans, we checked with our experts first. There was this para-legal in Cleveland and a retired judge in a nursing home, and both of them assured me that the president can do anything to protect the nation, and that includes spying and arrests and everything. You should just be lucky I don't have you arrested now. . . . You should be grateful and thank me. . . Geez. . . . Next question."
