Any "Blue" banks in NY area?
I'm ready to ditch Citibank/Citicorp for good and now I'm looking a socially-responsible ( non-Republican) financial institution for my modest banking needs.

Any ideas? I'm in NYC.

1. Blue Bank? That's hysterical. Try visiting Solari.com for bank
ideas. They suggest going local to keep as much money local as possible.

4. "Blue bank" seems like an oxymoron, closer might be credit unions.
There are many that were originally for specific groups like unions that have now opened up to the public. Other then one account while working temp for a bank (it was a requirement) that's pretty much all I've used for about 25 yrs now and have always been very pleased with the customer service and rates.

7. A thought. Thanks. I actually may belong to....
a Credit Union, ( I think. My union is associated with one. I'm trying to remember why I might not be a member). Not sure if it has full service banking, though.

8. There are non-union Credit unions now as well. The one we belong to now is
locality oriented.

If you're interested try running a search for a local CU here: http://www.ncua.gov/indexdata.html
btw- I tried the search function both without using a "first word" and then w/o a "first word" or a city. Both searches came up with the FCU's I expected and in the area(s) I entered. B-)

5. Commerce Bank is listed as Blue on buyblue.org

I'd also consider Amalgamated Bank - America's Labor Bank. http://www.amalgamatedbank.com They're not on buyblue.org at all, but they're Union.
