Husband convicted of sex abuse

COUNCIL BLUFFS - A Council Bluffs man now faces up to 10 years in prison after being convicted Friday of sexually assaulting his wife.

Jurors convicted Travis Frey on Friday of third-degree sexual abuse - a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Frey, 33, had been charged with first-degree kidnapping for allegedly tying up his wife and assaulting her last April.

But the jury found Frey guilty of the lesser charge because there was no evidence that Frey had tied up his wife, said jury foreperson Jodi Cross, the only woman on the 12-member jury.

Cross said that a list of sexual demands and "wifely expectations" that Frey gave his wife helped the jury determine "what was going on in (Frey's) mind."

Juror Larry Nightser, 38, who is married, noted that Frey threatened in the document to tie up his wife if she didn't comply with his demands.

Cross said another strong piece of evidence was the thousands of pornographic images found on Frey's computer.
