I just drove from DC up Pennsylvania route 76

and there were these jumongous windmills off to the south side of the
road, can't remember where, they were up on a hill and
spinning heartily, about a half dozen or so.
What installation was I looking at, and
who runs it?

1. Power generating windmills near Somerset?

there are 5 or 6 of them you can see from the Turnpike. I think power companies are supposed to generate some small percent of their power through alternate sources. They've been there for at least 5 years. I don't know which utility company operates them.

2. Green Mountain energy wind farm..

PA's first megawatt wind farm. Each turbine is 187 feet high. They're just past the rest stop. Somewhere around Somerset, east of Pittsburgh. We see them everytime we drive out to central PA.

Alternative energy resources projects are a booming business in PA.
