OSHA orders West Jet Aircraft to pay back wages to terminated whistle-blower

The U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration said Thursday it was ordering a Scottsdale aviation firm to pay a $94,900 in back wages and other fees to a whistle-blowing employee who was terminated.

OSHA has ordered West Jet Aircraft of Scottsdale to pay back wages to the former employee. The federal agency said West Jet terminated the worker after she raised safety concerns and was going to talk to the Federal Aviation Administration.

West Jet did not comment. The company, located next to Scottsdale Municipal Airport, offers chartered jet flights as well as aircraft management and services.

OSHA did not release the name of the former employee.
