Associated Press - April 24, 2008 2:14 PM ET

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A report by the AFL-CIO says Alaska and Wyoming top the nation in the rate of on-the-job fatalities.

Alaska led in work-related deaths with a rate of 13.8 per 100,000 workers in 2006, according to the report released

Wyoming's rate of work-related deaths was 12.9 per 100,000, or more than three times the national average.

The labor group says the report shows that national standards and regulations for ensuring workplace safety are inadequate.
