INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Without a clear Democratic candidate, union members are attacking John McCain. Across the country, thousands of union members went door to door today to hand out anti John McCain flyers and 24-Hour News 8 tagged along.

They are members of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, better known as the AFL-CIO. The flyer attacks McCain's proposed plan for health care. It's a plan that union members say will create a new tax.

They went door to door. One hundred union workers handed out flyers to other union workers. The flyers blast John McCain's proposed plan for healthcare.

"We want to make sure that our members know that on the issues that we represent them on everyday that John McCain would be a bad choice," said Bob Mechan, Political Coordinator for AFL-CIO.

The AFL-CIO claims that McCain's healthcare plan would create a new tax by making employer provided health benefits part of a taxable income.

News 8 took the flyer to Republican state legislator Mike Murphy.

"I think it's typical scare tactics by the democrats. I mean Republicans have done more to reform the insurance industry then any party in the last twenty years has done," Murphy said.
