OSHA proposes $130,500 in fines for Suncor Energy

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (News) - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says it has found 26 alleged safety and health violations at Suncor Energy Inc.'s petroleum refinery in Commerce City.

OSHA has proposed a $130,500 fine.

OSHA alleges Suncor failed to properly test gas monitors for hydrogen sulfide and combustible gas in heating, cooling and ventilation systems for control rooms; didn't follow standards for processing hazardous chemicals; and didn't provide industrial trucks which are rated for hazardous locations, among other alleged violations.

The company has 15 business days to contest the citations.
