WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama announced Friday that he is nominating a former staff director of the Michigan State Employees Association to be a member of the National Mediation Board.
The position is a step up for Linda A. Puchala, who is now the senior mediator and associate director of alternative dispute resolution services at the board.
The board, an independent agency, referees disputes between labor and management within the U.S. airline and railroad industries.
Puchala has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cleary University in Howell, the White House said.
She has three decades of experience in labor relations, the White House said, and was the international president of the Association of Flight Attendants, CWA, AFL-CIO, and staff director, Michigan State Employees Association, AFSCME, AFL-CIO.
