The SEIU and the California Nurses Association/National Organizing Committee have agreed to put their differences behind them and cooperate in organizing and support of the Employee Free Choice Act. SEIU’s Michele Ringuette.

The two unions also have jointly endorsed measures to let states adopt versions of single payer health care based on expanded and updated Medicare for all. California Nurses Association’s Rose Ann DeMoro says the agreement is a huge spark for the emergence of a more powerful, unified national movement to organize health care workers. SEIU President Andy Stern says it’s the beginning of a new future for nurses and other healthcare workers as sweeping changes are made in health care.
