Some Business People Welcome Unions, Support Employee Free Choice Act

http://www.laborradio.org/node/10755

By Doug Cunningham

Not all businesspeople oppose the Employee Free Choice Act labor law reform. Jim O’ Malley is a small business owner from Pennsylvania who happily works with a union – and he supports the Employee Free Choice Act.

: “I think when we have strong unions ,we will have strong corporations and when we work together we will have a strong America.”

Darrin Horndash with Wisconsin Vision says his company has been union friendly for nearly 30 years.

: “We need to have a strong working middle class. If we don’t have a strong working middle class, I believe my business is going to suffer. A strong working middle class is right where unions and those employees fit. And we need to sustain that in this country.”

Ruth Schepp runs a small business in North Dakota.

: “I believe that our workers in our country deserve a fair choice- without fear – to choose whether they want a union or not. Right now I feel corporations are putting the fear if God into employees – even if they think about forming a union. And I don’t feel that’s right. I welcome the union into my corporation and I want my employees to feel comfortable in this setting.”
