By Doug Cunningham

Tens of thousands of people are marching in Washington DC tomorrow as workers and progressives fight for the changes working families desperately need. New York AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Terrence Melvin.

: “We will not step down, we will not step back, we will not retreat. Victory is ours! (Chant – 10-2-10) Will you join me? Will you join me? Will you make a difference?”

In addition to the Washington march, the AFL-CIO says there will also be tens of thousands of union members going door to door October 2nd in 300 locations as part of a nationwide political mobilization. This is the nation’s largest grassroots political mobilization for the November 2nd elections. AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka on why the labor federation is involved in the One Nation march.

: “It’s time we lift our voices as one nation working together - people who are coming to Washington DC to demand a renewed focus in investment in people. People like you, who go to work every day and still don’t seem to get ahead. People who want to work, but don’t have jobs to go to. One Nation Working Together is demanding three things – one million new jobs, justice and equal protection under the law for all people and world-class public education for all our children. We need Congress and other officials to hear us and then re-invest in people.”
