FALLS CITY, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Supreme Court has reversed a lower court ruling that ordered Richardson County to reinstate a deputy fired after being accused of sexually propositioning a co-worker.

The high court's ruling released Friday backs a county board's decision to uphold Scott's 2009 firing.

Scott was fired after the chief Richardson County deputy determined Scott that had lied about propositioning a co-worker. Scott filed a grievance two days later.

The grievance board granted Scott back pay but upheld his termination.

A district court judge overturned the firing, saying Scott should get back his job because his due-process rights under his union contract were violated.

But the high court says the evidence supported Scott's firing for just cause.
