Several hundred people were not enough to impress Bill Gluba.

The Davenport mayor said he was disappointed Saturday by the turnout for a pro-labor rally at Vander Veer Park.

“We have at least 5,000 union members in Scott County,” Gluba said. “What do we have here today? Five hundred people, maybe?

“Where are the other 4,500? Shame on those who aren’t involved. I’ve been to every demonstration. Where were the teachers and AFSCME?”

The rally was intended as a show of support for public workers and their unions, which were declared “under attack” because of recent measures to reform collective-bargaining and other worker rights.

The Iowa House this month passed House File 525, which reforms collective bargaining, among other things. The measure was sent last week to the Senate Labor Committee, where its Democratic chairman declared it dead.

FULL STORY AT LINK.

I'm disappointed in the turn out too!

1.  How do you find out about these protests?
What the heck do you have to sign up for to get information? There are several people I know that would have gone.

2. Usually I get my info from MoveOn.org...........
In this area they seem to have a handle on every gathering from every organization out there. I've been to 4 rallies and a couple of organizational meetings just in the last month.
