Benefit in Honor of Slain Officer Planned

On October 27th the IBPO Local 673 will sponsor the "1st Julie Jacks Bluegrass Festival" on the grounds of the IBEW Union Hall at 3922 Volunteer Dr.

The beneficiary of the proceeds will go to the "Julie Jacks Memorial Scholarship Fund".

The Dismembered Tennesseans, Lone Mountain Band, Steel String Session, Full Pull, Old Dixie Highway, Barefoot Nellie, Grandpa & The Old Time String Band are all scheduled to perform.

The event will have food, cokes, raffles and a kid play area. It will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Jacks was killed in the line of duty in May 6, 2002 after Isaac Jones escaped from a hospital and shot her seven times with her own gun. He is serving a 25 year sentence for second degree murder

Jacks had just won the Chattanooga Police Department's Rookie of the Year.
