LEMONT, Ill. - Citgo Petroleum Corporation has paid more than $155,000 in fines over unsafe working conditions discovered at its refinery in suburban Lemont.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspected the facility in August 2007 and found several problems, including potential fire hazards and inadequate training and education of employees.
The agency said Friday that in addition to the $155,250 fine, Citgo has agreed to fix items that led to the violations of federal workplace safety standards.
OSHA area director Gary Anderson says the agency is pleased Citgo responded to the situation quickly.
Citgo has about 550 employees at the Lemont facility.
